what I had for lunch: Turkey Burger and Green Salad

Ingredients:
1/2 lb of lean ground turkey
4-5 cloves of garlic
1/4 of a red onion
1/2 of a lemon
1 cup of cherry tomatoes
3 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
salad greens
olive oil
salt & pepper

step 1: dice the onion and finely chop the garlic cloves

step 2: begin to heat up some olive oil in a large sauce pan. meanwhile, add a good amount of salt, a few pinches of pepper, chopped garlic, and onion to the turkey and combine.

step 3: divide the turkey mixture in half and create two burger patties. place them in the heated oil on medium and cover for about 5 minutes.

step 4: after the burgers have been on for 5 minutes, flip them, and pour 1 Tbsp of apple cider vinegar on each. pour the other Tbsp in the pan and cover again for 5-8 minutes until fully cooked. make sure to watch them to avoid overcooking!!

step 5: while the burgers finish cooking, halve the cherry tomatoes and set them aside.

step 6: after the burgers are done, set them aside and take the pan off heat. throw in as many salad greens that you plan to eat along with the tomatoes. toss together with the olive oil/apple cider/drippings that the turkey was cooking in until coated.

(sorry for the blurry picture, i was getting way too excited to eat!)

step 7: plate it up with the turkey burgers and chow down!

I've always loved Zaha Hadid's designs. Everything she creates is so abstract and avant garde; unlike any other structure surrounding it in most cases. One of her more recent projects, an opera house for the city of Guangzhou in China, looks as if a space ship went up and landed in the middle of a metropolitan city. It even looks like it from the inside! Cool stuff!

Okay, so I'm not much of a watch guy, but I think I would make an exception for this baby. The great people at Uncrate gives a nice little rundown of the Breitling Chronospace Watch's product features, but if you know me, I just care about the fact that it looks like James Bond would wear it. I feel like the arm band is what makes this watch extra special, with its chain-links, but then you look at the clock face mechanism and the package gets sweeter. Need it. But since the price is listed as "$TBA," chances are I cant afford it. Womp womp.

Her 2 upcoming singles just dropped on YouTube, and I really like them too! Check them out, "Rose Coloured Glasses," set to target top 40 radio, and "Grown Ass Woman," intended for urban radio. Side note, I think whoever created the first video messed something up with the vocal range, bc it definitely doesn't sound like Kelly... but i love the song nonetheless!

Firstly, I apologize for my lack in posting as of late. I've taken some time to really enjoy summer for a bit, and have also been taking time to point myself in a new direction professionally. Nick Brandt photography intrigues me because unlike other photographers who shoot similar subjects, Brandt does so without the use of long-range zoom lenses. He gets as close to his subjects as possible, sometimes hiding out for days to get the shot! Also, all of his photo's post production is done in a dark room, without the help of digital programs. KLM Airlines have a new type of coach seating called 'Economy Comfort,' which apparently has like 10 cm more leg room and seats the recline twice as far (awesome right?!). To advertise for it they created an interactive display at Manchester airport with this guy, who literally looks like he's floating in mid air. How on earth did they do this?! I am baffled.

It has been a long, long while since I have had the time, much less energy to blog! My favorites folder is starting to fill up, so I will have to change that soon! No worries though, my midterms are done with on Thursday, so hopefully by the time the weekend rolls around I'll have some new (and old) stuff to share with you guys.

Today on the radio at work I heard this song 'Pyramid' which I really liked. I looked it up and found out that the artist is Charice, a teenaged singing sensation that I once saw on Oprah (Look at her booty in those leather pants! Maybe the stylist should have re-thought that one out). Well Oprah loved her, so naturally the rest of world followed suit, and she even got to sing with her idol, Celine Dion in Madison Square Garden! I love how she totally doesn't let up and give Celine some voice time. Dee. Va.

So now little Charice's dreams have come true and she has a major record deal and an increasingly heard single on US radio. Pretty cool for a little Filipino village girl from half way across the world! And she's pretty much destined for success. She's got Oprah AND Celine on her side. Yowza. I saw on Design Related a few weeks ago Chiquita Banana's new brand refresh, but have been forgetting to do a post on it. The designer, DJ Neff put a fresh take on the iconic Chiquita sticker by doing a TON of awesome graphics in its spot. Even though some of it is clearly not banana-related, I love how you still instantly know its Chiquita. Isn't it cool? There really isn't any other word that I feel better describes the campaign than just COOL. Check out more at Design Related. I wish I would have thought of this...

Found a bunch of hilarious vintage ads from the 1930-40s today. The VD spot (above) made me laugh out loud! I really can't believe what some of these are saying. Make sure to click on the ad with the spider webs about Lysol and read the fine print. You'll be amazed at the clever uses for this everyday household cleaner...

Online shoe company Zappos has put the first tv spot of their new ad campaign on TV! Well, actually I randomly caught it on YouTube. Boston-based agency Mullen headed up the campaign, and more parts will break in the near future! The phone call used in the ads is a real phone call, btw. I'm really hoping there are more outrageous phone calls with fuzzy puppets to come...

Mattel immortalized Mad Men as BARBIES (and Kens)!! They're actually pretty awesome, and they hit the whole retro thing on the head. Miss Holloway is as much of a Goddess as Christina Hendricks, and little Betty as sweet as January Jones. They won't be available till July, but I'm sure collectors are going to go nuts for them.

Alexander McQueen's final collection was debuted yesterday in Paris, and it was the furthest from what I expected. After going so far into the future with his previous SS10 collection, he seemd to throw all of that out the window in favor of a medieval-inspired collection. From what I've read in the fashion press, this was only a portion of what he had planned on showing for Fall 2010, which is a shame because I would have loved to see the rest of this already painfully beautiful collection. This is one of my favorite advertisements right now. E*Trade debuted it at the Superbowl I think, and its made me erupt in convulsions of laughter pretty much every time I've seen it. However, there has been a bit of controversy recently surrounding the ad because apparently Lindsay Lohan thinks the world revolves around her and subsequently, so does this ad. According to the New York Post, old LiLo is SUING E*Trade for $100 million because she thinks that the milkaholic Lindasy in the ad is clearly modeled after her.

To this I say, get over yourself Lohan and leave E*Trade alone! Team E*Trade!
